Last day by the coast!
Today, it's time to say goodbye to the coast. The image of the Ribadeo Bridge is symbolic to me. I enter Galicia and the Camino turns inland.
And as if the coast knows that it's my last day near it, it shows itself once again at its most beautiful and I'm glad that I chose some 'coastal variations' for the Camino today. In the late morning, I sit on a bench on the cliffs for my second breakfast and take in the breathtaking views.
I don't know what awaits me on the rest of the Camino ------ so far, it has been sensational.
When I arrive in Ribadeo, I go to the local church and get a new pilgrim's passport. The old one is full of stamps. I sit down in the square in front of the church and ..... enjoyed a Café Cortado in the sun.
Then I quickly go to the supermarket, I buy a little more than usual, somehow I have a bad feeling about the next accommodation. The hotel owner from Tapia de Casariego calls me to inform me that the hotel he recommended is probably closed as no one is answering the phone. It would be better for me to take the public hostel in Vilela. However, I know from the internet that it is also closed. ----- quick crisis meeting in the smallest circle. I open my hiking app and look at the route for the next day to search for other accommodation options....... Uuihh, it could be a long day. I prepare myself for an additional 3 hours, luckily I have enough supplies with me.
When I arrive in Vilela, it is confirmed that the public hostel is closed. Next to the hostel is a bar/restaurant that also operates a small private hostel. ----- Crisis already overcome.
The 'town' is even smaller than Wintzen in the Eifel, but luckily it has a restaurant and a pub. And so, after doing my laundry, I can sit comfortably in the sun again, enjoying a cold beer and writing in my diary.
The last picture was hanging in the restaurant in Tapia de Casariego and shows the harbor as it appears in autumn.....upps.
