It's been a while since we last heard from us, but today there's an update. We spent the last day in New York walking around Manhattan, doing some shopping, and checking out the Flat Iron Building. The next morning, we continued our journey to Philadelphia by train. After a little struggle through the New York Rush Hour, we arrived at the train station on time and took a two-hour ride to Philly. The train ride was relatively uneventful, so we took the time to let the great impressions of New York sink in. Once we arrived in Philly, we took the regional train to our AirBnB accommodation. In the afternoon, we took a little walk around the neighborhood and bought some groceries for the next few days. In the evening, we cooked ourselves a delicious shrimp pasta and ended the day with Netflix on the couch. Almost like home :) This morning, we started early towards downtown. There was so much to explore. Philadelphia is the sixth largest city in America and the birthplace of the USA. The first stop was the Reading Terminal Market, where we both had a Philly Cheese Steak, which was invented here, as the name suggests. A bun filled with chopped beef, cheese, and onions. Very tasty! Then we walked to the city's most famous sights, the Independence Hall and Liberty Bell. The Declaration of Independence was signed here on July 4, 1776. In the early afternoon, we continued our journey to Penn's Landing, a little promenade on the Delaware River. At the end of the day, there was a highlight waiting for me. Our sightseeing trip ended at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Also known as the Rocky Steps from the movie Rocky starring Sylvester Stallone, one of my all-time favorite movies. So, I couldn't miss taking a picture with the Rocky Statue :) Tomorrow, we'll continue our journey to Washington D.C., the capital of America. We're both excited to see what awaits us there.
