Day 2.5 in Bangkok...probably heading north tomorrow

Ku kandziyisiwile: 04.10.2017

Today I got up even later from my ass, but apparently subconsciously well-considered, because when I left around noon, the constant rain had stopped (for now)...

Yesterday I read about the canal boats that are a lifeline during rush hour. While the streets are packed with cars, you can easily get around the city with these boats...

Today I tried it out...for only 45 cents they took me to the end of the canal to Wat Sri Bunrueang (one of the endless monasteries/temple complexes) (about 15km!), where there is a famous airplane graveyard promoted by Bangkok bloggers.

I also found the back side, fought my way through the thicket, and then turned around in front of a disgusting giant puddle, amazed that no snake had attacked me yet.

My new route led me directly through the monastery, past the Buddhist monks, over a small bridge over the water.

Arriving at the airplane graveyard, I found it to be very boring...3 wrecks and that's it. You could have entered the premises for €5, but there are a few families living inside who are marketing it a bit. I skipped that and moved on...

Since I was now in the middle of nowhere in Bangkok, after a rain shower and endless waiting, I went back towards the center by Klong-Boat and then took the Skytrain and TukTuk to Chinatown.

There was also something to eat (steamed duck with rice and a water for €1.50 - amazing!).

As I fought my way through the traffic towards the GuestHouse, there was traffic jam everywhere even at 10 PM...the Thais were queuing up for several kilometers (no joke!) in front of the Grand Palace to bid farewell to the deceased king, resulting in road closures = traffic jam!😬

Thanks to the traffic jam, I ended up walking faster than taking a taxi...

I've had enough of Bangkok for now, the food was great, the rest was okay as a start...now it's time to head north (probably to Chiang Mai by bus or train)

I'd also like to do some sports again, just so I can eat more without feeling guilty:P

Bye!
