Motorhome Tour / Sardinia

Çap edildi: 09.08.2017

                        Our motorhome tour begins!
Starting point: NRW - Munich - Austria
                                       Destination: Italy (Sardinia)
                           (3-week tour / Starting: 01/07/2015)

Location: After Sicily, Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean. It is located 202 km from mainland Italy, with the Tyrrhenian Sea in between. Sardinia is 184 km away from Tunisia in the south. To the north is the French island of Corsica. To the west is the Balearic island of Mallorca, which is 335 km away and belongs to Spain.

Climate: The climate is primarily Mediterranean, with warm spring and autumn, hot summer, and mild winter. If you prefer a nice warm climate, like me, you should arrive between June and September. During this time, the average temperatures range from 27 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Getting there: Since we traveled with a motorhome, we had to take the ferry to Sardinia. The two main departure ports to Sardinia are Genoa (Northern Italy) and Livorno (Tuscany). The port of Genoa is the quickest to reach from southwest Germany and Switzerland, but it is often crowded. The quickest port to reach for those coming from Austria is Livorno in Tuscany. We started from Livorno. Ferry prices are very reasonable. We paid a little over 100.00 Euros for 4 people + a dog, so it is very fair!

Conclusion: Sardinia is the Caribbean of Europe! The beaches, the mountains, and the nature make Sardinia a dream destination. But above all, it is the beaches that make Sardinia so special and unique. The beaches in Sardinia are freely accessible, and tourism is not yet widespread there. For all sports enthusiasts, I recommend the beach 'Porto Pollo' located on the north coast of Sardinia... A paradise for windsurfing and kiteboarding! There are two bays for surfing, one with waves and the other without. There is a surfing and kite school there as well as a campsite 'Isola dei Gabbiani' (where we stayed with our motorhome).

Tip:
You should definitely visit the bay Cala Goloritzé. You will be rewarded with an impressive bay with clear visibility up to 30 meters deep and a bizarre rock landscape.
