Before continuing our journey, the sisters of the Schoenstatt pilgrimage site prepared a delicious breakfast for us. Once all the suitcases were packed and the rooms were cleared, Sister Sandra said goodbye to us and we gave her a book as a small thank you, which shows aerial photos of Heidenheim and on which we all signed.
Then the buses were already rolling. After a short supermarket stop, we drove for three hours on Mexico's highways, past cacti and dry grasslands towards Leon.
After the buses dropped us off there, we marched about five minutes to the Hotelito Lindo, where we will stay for the next few days.
On the rooftop terrace of the hotel, we had tacos with many different fillings.
We could spend the afternoon individually, most of us went to the city with Emilio, who lives in Leon and therefore knows the city very well, to take a look around or do some shopping.
Leon is a city in central Mexico, about 400 km from Mexico City. It is located in the state of Guanajuato with about 1.6 million inhabitants. The most important industry is leather production, which is why there is one shoe store after another here :)
In the evening, the buses took us to a restaurant where we were treated to pizza and pasta, and we could also watch a beautiful sunset.
Back at the hotel, some of us were picked up by their host families, while the others settled into their hotel rooms and rested from the efforts of the past few days.
