Day 113 and 114 Off to the countryside

If you've had enough of the hectic city life, take a ferry to one of the smaller islands and go hiking there. These islands are not overbuilt and usually have one or more small villages near the harbor and otherwise only nice little trails.

I went hiking on Peng Chau and Lamma Island. It's special, in Hong Kong there are many people everywhere, except on the hiking trails. Most of the time you're alone there. On the hiking trail on Peng Chau I met 2 other people, on Lamma Island maybe 5. The rest of the time you're just alone in nature.

The hikes were not particularly strenuous, but at 35°C and a perceived humidity of 80%, they were quite sweaty.

I especially enjoyed the hike on Lamma Island. Along the way, I passed by small beautiful beaches where there was no one. Actually incomprehensible. But the nature and the view on both islands are really great.

If you climb small hills, you can see the traffic on the sea in the port of Hong Kong. Huge container ships alongside smaller cruise ships and various ferries.

And if you're hungry after a hike, you can enjoy fresh seafood in several restaurants right at the harbor. And it's really fresh. It feels more like entering a fish market than necessarily a restaurant.
