It had rained a lot during the night. I fell asleep to the sound of raindrops drumming on the tent and woke up to the same melody.
I looked out of the tent. Everything was gray, wet, windy, but the temperature had shot up. The thermometer showed 8 degrees. I crawled back into my sleeping bag. 7:00 a.m. was too early for me in this weather. When I woke up again at 10:00 a.m., someone had turned the rainwater faucet on a little. A good opportunity to make my way to the washroom. After a hot shower and with the rainwater faucet now open again, I was ready to go. I don't think I'll go hiking today. Not in this weather.
I still wanted to go. I had to go shopping and wanted to take some pictures. So off I went, toward the sun. First, I covered the eight-kilometer track to the main road. I have the feeling that 'driving on gravel' and I won't be real friends. I arrived at the main road and looked for the brightest spot in the cloudy sky. I drove along the Ring Road toward Egilsstadir. I came from this direction yesterday. It looks like the moon in some places. This combination of bad weather and monotonous landscape is depressing. The low point for me today.
On the way back after shopping, I turned into a street that caught my attention because of its indication of a scenic spot. It runs along Lagarfljót to a bridge and then back to Egilsstadir on the other side. In sunshine, it must be something beautiful. But not today. Frustrated, I decided to return to the campsite. I felt kind of weak and tired today. I only ate a little and laid down.
