It is Saturday, August 1st and the subject traveler is already on the way back. The return of the rental car goes surprisingly smoothly here in Koper before noon. However, checking in at the hotel is annoying. Exploring the city afterwards is definitely beautiful. Inspiring and truly wonderful. Because the old town of Koper has become my secret favorite on this trip. On this trip through Slovenia, which has been one of my most beautiful and best trips ever.
Surrounded by a mighty belt of extensive industrial facilities and generously dimensioned traffic areas, disproportional shopping centers and vast industrial areas, a multitude of newly built residential areas and the dominant port facilities, the pleasantly quiet and enchanting old town of Koper resembles the proverbial needle in a haystack that one must first find.
My stay in Koper was pleasantly uneventful. To stay in the visibly Venetian-influenced old town, far away from the hustle and bustle, felt wonderful. Like the thought of being able to live as a free spirit, liberated from the noise and clamor of the often superficially meaningless human chaos. In the small circle of inspired individuals. Surrounded only by certain people whom you like and who are important to you. To linger only with all of this and to seemingly be timeless in time.
