along the Rhone to the sea

Now it's time again. An idea, a plan and then it's implemented. I prefer to drive to the sea from somewhere. Why? I have no idea. Maybe it's a natural urge to follow the flow of time and everything eventually flows into the sea.

On Sunday morning I got up at six and then at seven I was with my travel companion. He, like me, is ready with all his belongings. On the way, we wonder if we have everything. You never know until you miss it.

At around eleven we arrive in Lyon. A bit earlier than expected, but we quickly lose the gained time. Since I found a parking space at the train station in Saint-Fois (thanks to Parkopedia), we have to cross the railroad tracks, the highway, and then the Rhone. One by one, we manage to do it. After a few failures in the industry... worse than a military protected area.

At first, the road is very pleasant to drive on. But suddenly, something is written as "provisoire". I know what that means, but I think that if it's written, it must also be passable. Because of the many bumps, the chain jumps off at the back. Thanks to my clinical gloves, I don't get dirty. But it takes time.

The road becomes narrower and suddenly there's a tree in the way. At first, you take it sportingly (a woman would ask herself some questions) and lift it over. Since my travel companion is on an e-bike, we have to take off the bags first. And an e-bike is still heavier. With my bike, it's possible for me to lift it alone, even with bags. Unfortunately, the derailleur at the back bends, which I only noticed later. Luckily, I stop when I hear the somewhat special sound and check it. It's not just a tangled twig. I try to bend it back. Not easy at all, considering that the part is made of aluminum and very fragile. Everything goes well and we're back on the road.

We continue without any problems until we reach the campsite. We arrive at 3:30 pm and are happy to see a blonde girl at the reception. We also order a baguette, but it is only delivered at eight.

We set up our tent, get electricity, etc., and take a leisurely shower. Then we cook. We have hörnli with landjäger sausage, sautéed onions, and some cheese on top. What more do we need? A glass of the Rhone, of course. We managed to get it at the reception.
