During my Great Ocean Road trip, I thought for a long time about how I could package my experiences into the most presentable story. But actually, I don't want to turn my journey along the south coast of Australia into a report that resembles more of a checklist than anything else that would do justice to this trip.
So many people travel the Great Ocean Road, taking a quick selfie at each spot and driving on to see as much as possible in the shortest amount of time.
But amidst all the tour groups and tourist buses, I always felt that the most important thing was escaping these people.
The places we visited, the things we saw, and the people we met were amazing experiences. But ultimately, this 10-day trip was nothing less than a new way of life.
I'm talking about a feeling that makes you feel alive from head to toe. I'm talking about moments when you drive along the winding roads along the coast in the car and tears well up in your eyes. You can't believe it. You try to become aware of how valuable this moment is to lock it deep in your heart and keep it. But it just doesn't work. All you can do is shake your head. Laugh. And simply be fucking unbelievably happy.
I soaked up every minute of this trip, let myself be overwhelmed by a wave of impressions, and enjoyed every single moment. Breakfast every morning at the campsite. Cruising along the south coast of Australia. Conversations by the campfire.
As much as I would like to hold onto these moments and bring them back to university days, unfortunately that doesn't work.
All I hope is that I preserve these moments, in which I could hardly believe my happiness, and take them deep within me into the adventure of life.
