The road to Hammerfest is partly very adventurous. The quality of the roads decreases and we do not make much progress. In addition, Hammerfest is located in a reindeer breeding area and you can quickly notice that as soon as you reach the island of Kvaloya. The overall speed is reduced because suddenly reindeer are standing on the road, running from the roadside onto the road or sunning themselves on the roads. This means that we get very close to many reindeer. Hammerfest is also the northernmost city in the world. The city is one of the most modern in Norway and was completely rebuilt after the war. A special highlight is the meridian stone in Hammerfest. This is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. We encounter reindeer everywhere in the city, lying on the roadside, grazing in the campground, or simply sunbathing. So no matter where you are on the road, you can find the animals' droppings. Nevertheless, we do not feel that the city is ruled by reindeer and that there are too many here. The campground is located about 2km north of Hammerfest and has a small lake in front of it. We spend 2 nights here, have a campfire, and are already looking forward to our next stage.
