Today was an unspectacular day. I slept in until 8:00 AM. Not a good idea, because the laundry house, or rather laundry shack, is overcrowded. Which is not difficult given its small size. Two toilets, two sinks, one shower. Not much for about 20 parking spaces.
While waiting, I tried to upload the pictures from yesterday's day. This was not possible yesterday evening. But it worked out after all.
At 9:00 AM, it was my turn to shower. During breakfast, I decided to have a driving day today.
From Akureyri, I drove on route 82, heading north via Dalvik, Olafsfjordur to Siglufjordur. It always runs along the coast of Eyjafjordur. With very good weather, one kilometer after another passes by. The view is occasionally magnificent. Unfortunately, you can't capture the overall impression in an image. I also couldn't stop everywhere to take pictures. Shortly before Olafsfjordur, the road goes through a tunnel. After a few meters, it becomes single-lane. There is a passing bay every 100 meters. My direction has to give way priority. The road is quite busy, so I have to stop several times.
Another tunnel follows and when I emerge from it, it starts raining again. So what, nothing new. I have gotten used to it by now. When I encounter cyclists in full rain gear, I think of Jule. I wonder if she has also gotten so wet the last few days? My route now leads back to the south, on route 76, along Skagafjordur. The round trip ends after about 270 kilometers in Akureyri again. My tank is once again empty. I'm also hungry. The evening ceremony will be just as it has been the other days.
Here are some impressions from the drive.
