Started on: 12.12. in Frankfurt and landed in Singapore on 14.12.22 at 5 am. We collected our luggage, withdrew money and luckily found an Indian restaurant where we could have a Masala Dosa for breakfast. Then we spent some time at the beautiful Changi Airport and around 11:30 am we made our way to the hostel. The long journey and lack of sleep were definitely taking a toll on both of us. We took the train to the city center and got off at the Little India station. In retrospect, we can consider ourselves lucky to have encountered this nice and extremely helpful railway employee: he pointed out to us that it would be too far to walk to the hostel with all our luggage from here and would mean at least 30 minutes of walking. His tip: go back a few more stops and get off at the Jalan Besar station (the address of our hostel in Little India). At first, we were totally confused, but the man saved us in that moment. As tired as we were, we just wanted to arrive and thanks to him, we found the right station.😄 We could only check in to our room from 3 pm, so we had to wait again.
In the first night at the hostel, we both managed to get 15 hours of sleep! After that, the jet lag had us again: not being able to fall asleep in the evening and instead sleeping half of the day. Classic!
We spent our time sightseeing in Singapore. We really like the city, this was already our 2nd visit here. The city is incredibly clean, beautiful, modern and green. We visited Chinatown, the landmark - the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands and walked along the Bayfront and ate at the food courts, the famous Hawker Centers. On the second day, we went to Sentosa Island to the beach - a recreational island for locals and tourists with a lot of leisure activities (guess who didn't have swimwear with them 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼). The weather for the start of Southeast Asia was great. It was warm, but the sun didn't grill us, which was completely fine. On 17.12.22 we left Singapore and took the bus across the border to Malaysia, our destination was Malacca.
Info: Our hostel in Singapore was the BEAT.Sports Hostel in Little India and we can recommend it for its location, as it is only a few minutes' walk to the MRT station and the bus terminal. There is also a 7Eleven, various cafes, restaurants, and food courts just around the corner, as well as an ATM.
