Day 10 - Jardin del Papagayo & Puçol

E hatisitsoe: 11.04.2019

Hello everyone!

Yayyyy, today we visited the parrot park! Since the park opens at 11 am, we got to sleep in. However, we still feel a bit tired... I didn't wake up until 10 am and I was still very sleepy... Kevin woke up before me, but he kept dozing off during the drive in the afternoon. It will probably take some time until we feel fully rested... By the time we showered and had breakfast, it was already 12 pm when we arrived at the park.

The park was simply AMAZING!!! We had sooooo much fun! There were two entrances: one with various animals (flamingos, turtles, and various bird species) and another one with parrots and kangaroos.

We started at the turtle area. There, we were allowed to feed the turtles with lettuce. It was really cool! Since I'm a huge fan of these animals, I particularly enjoyed getting so close to them. Kevin also clearly enjoyed feeding them :)

After we finished exploring this section, we went to see the parrots. At the entrance, we could buy food for the parrots, which we of course did. Normally, both of us are not huge bird people, but the visit to 'Jardin del Papagayo' changed that instantly! We were allowed to enter every cage, and the birds were incredibly tame! There were some gray parrots in one cage that we particularly liked. They flew right up to us, and even when we ran out of food, they stayed with us and played with our sweaters, my sunglasses, and our jewelry. Some scenes were so funny that we laughed until tears came out! The kangaroos, on the other hand, were not as exciting... They just lay around and seemed heavily sedated.

But all in all, it was a really great trip and we will cherish the funny memories!

At around 2:30 pm, we continued our journey to 'Puçol', where we had another nice place in mind for our camper van. Since this place is not really suitable for diving (it's a beach after all, probably a very monotonous underwater world), we drove around for a while in search of a better spot. On the way, we went shopping - and finally, we have a grill! :D We spent at least an hour searching for syrup for our margarita experiments in that store, but without success! ^^ It's incredible how big that shop was...

Finally, at 7:30 pm, we ended up back at the same spot where we started. Nevertheless, we still wanted to try diving. By the time we had something to eat and everything ready, it was already 9:30 pm, so it turned into a night dive. But it was just a very short one :) Underwater, there was nothing but sand, sand, sand, and more sand. Also, it didn't get any deeper (maximum diving depth: 2.7 meters), and we could feel the waves the whole time, which made us feel a bit nauseous. It was like going forward, then backward, forward, backward... and even more sand! After about 20 minutes, we waded back out of the water and made ourselves comfortable in the camper van. Currently, the diving equipment is still drying outside on a mat, and later we will load everything in.

We still have about 2 hours and 15 minutes until Alicante, maybe we'll reach our next big destination tomorrow :)

See you later!
