We made a stop in Tromso and Finnsnes during the night. In the morning, we reach Harstad, from where we continue along beautifully snowy winter landscapes towards Risoyhamn, Sortland and Stokmarknes. Stokmarknes is considered the birthplace of Hurtigruten, as it is here that Richard With founded the Vesteralen Steamship Company in 1893. In the early evening, we continue through the Raftsund to Svolvaer. The Raftsund is the waterway between the Lofoten and Vesteralen. Our ship's landing place is directly in the city, where you can take amazing photos with the Lofoten mountains in the background. We are incredibly lucky to photograph the Northern Lights with Svolvaer, and impressive Northern Lights are also visible during the departure, until we head into the turbulent Vestfjord towards Bodo.
