Before exploring Africa, we spent a month on a farm and worked in exchange for food and accommodation. We thought we would get a normal standard, but unfortunately that was not the case at this farm, as can be seen in the photos. Even the owners of the farm themselves, especially the woman, were really very complicated and accordingly confused and chaotic, but they were very friendly. But we had the most fun with the workers and staff of the farm, and we also fell in love with the animals.
Our tasks here included labeling wine, gardening, assisting in the construction of a house, and some other activities. Unfortunately, we often lacked the meaning and logic behind the work. And there was also a lack of functioning tools and equipment.
Nevertheless, we made the best of it and tried to stay positive.
We were able to join some guests for a wine tasting at the farm. We also went to a country market in Kirstenbosch and tried some regional wines and other specialties.
On small excursions, we visited the small, nice villages of Darling and Riebeck Kasteel.
We are glad to have accomplished it now and to be able to explore the rest of Africa soon.
