My alarm clock rang at 6 am this morning. That would have been fine if I hadn't gone to bed at 1 am. I had a farewell toast with some friends I met there. =)
Then I took the shuttle back to the airport, which will soon be called 'Cristiano Ronaldo' airport (not a joke - it was in the news today). That would be the only reason not to return to Madeira! ;)
Speaking of Ronaldo: The old slick hairdo was in my vacation city Funchal on Friday to approve the reopening of his museum. Even if I had heard about it in time - I certainly wouldn't have gone. You know me.
The flight went absolutely smoothly. The trouble didn't start until I got on the German train. In Hannover, my train was delayed by 45 minutes, and then it had a machine breakdown just before its destination (in Niederdodeleben)! *g* Well, what can you do. At least I could watch 'Codename U.N.C.L.E.' and 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' on my laptop. The latter is highly recommended for people who have wanderlust!
The highlight of my day was when I accidentally ran into Elena and two of her friends in front of Magdeburg Central Station. They were so kind to chauffeur me home comfortably! Thanks again for that! Special thanks also goes to Kat, who took care of my tomatoes selflessly while I was away! :) Obrigado!
So, now comes the aftermath of the trip: doing laundry, chasing lizards out of my backpack, and then going to sleep in a timely manner.
P.S.: For those of you who are curious, the headline says 'Goodbye, Madeira. See you soon!' :)
