Warsaw Fights (Warszawa walczy)
Warsaw, August 1944. The Polish Home Army (Armia Krajowa, AK) dares to rise up against the German occupiers with the support of the population. The Warsaw Uprising (Powstanie Warszawskie) begins (not to be confused with the 1943 Ghetto Uprising).
After initial successes, the euphoria among the people of Warsaw is very high, especially among the youth. Everything is self-organized in the reclaimed neighborhoods. Everyone is involved:

Women play a special role in the Warsaw Uprising. Women and young girls fight or organize things like nursing:
There are countless love stories that unite men and women during this time - for the rest of their lives.
After 63 days
however, the fight is lost. The expected help from Stalin's Red Army did not come. They didn't expect that.
The Germans' revenge on the insurgents and the population is merciless. Warsaw is reduced to rubble through systematic bombings, and the population is massacred.
But even in communist Poland, the insurgents will later be brought to trial.
Who is supposed to understand all of this? I'll try, that's why I'm here.
Now I really need a break and go to the café feeling upset.
