On the road again... Farewell from Perth - Departure to the Southwest

La daabacay: 05.04.2018

After 40 days, we have now left Perth. Our stay in the capital of Western Australia was longer than planned. However, you quickly learn that plans are unnecessary. If you have a plan, it will change multiple times anyway. Therefore, our new plan from now on is to have no plan. Just see what happens.

You also learn patience. The clocks run slower, time and distances are relative, if not today, then maybe tomorrow or even later. Who knows. It took three months to get rid of our German synchronization and just live life. Deeply relaxed. We have the feeling that nothing can disturb our peace right now. What could possibly happen?

After three weeks of searching for the right car, we decided to wait another three weeks for the roof tent. Delivery times deviate slightly from the usual German norm. Amazon Prime: failed. The tent is transported by train from one end of Australia to the other. So we had enough time, for example, to prepare Simon's birthday party with our Billabong hostel group. We baked butter cookies in the hostel kitchen according to my beloved grandma's recipe. And since the well-equipped kitchen is home, the dough was rolled out with a bottle and each cookie was cut out by hand in the shape of a heart. We have time. ;-)

On Thursday afternoon, the tent was finally delivered. On Friday, we finally started our road trip through the southwest of Australia. With us: Martin from Strasbourg. A Frenchman who enriches our adventure through the southwest with his unique personality.

The second night in the roof tent was unfortunately not the most pleasant. We had strong winds and felt like the tent was about to blow away. So we started Easter Monday completely exhausted. Zwar with sleep deprivation, but with a dreamlike view. On the way along the coast, we passed through Serpentine Falls National Park, swam in Scarp Pool and Black Diamond Lake, and drove along red roads framed by green eucalyptus trees with silver-white trunks and clear blue skies. The last two days we spent in Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park.

Our pictures will hopefully give you a rough impression of this unique landscape.

Cheers,

Vroni, Maria and Martin
