On the last Friday, Dani asked me where I wanted to spend my birthday. Hmmmm... ähhhmmm... Sometime a few hours before I turned a year older, it was clear to me that I wanted to discover Tirana (ALB) on that day. Since there was no camping site nearby and a lot of rain was predicted, we chose the 5-star Hotel Rogner (highly recommended). Probably very unusual for campers, we left the Wägali in the hotel parking lot and treated ourselves to two nights of luxury. Incredible. Private shower, continuous hot water, large bed, dry environment... Wonderful!
On Saturday evening (after our arrival), we ran around the beautifully landscaped park with an artificial lake like crazy, and on Sunday we strolled through the city, familiarized ourselves with the hotel's hammam (we had to google how it works exactly :)) and had a delicious Albanian dinner in the evening.
And what is Tirana like? Colorful, crazy, architecturally indefinable, cheerful, fashionable, friendly, trendy, fascinating, offbeat, still not touristy (very cool), to fall in love with! ♡
Oh by the way... better leave the car behind. We sweated blood with the Wägali. Dani was sweating and I just closed my eyes. Like the rest of Albania, the one with the stronger will has the advantage. For example, red traffic lights are ignored, unless there is a loudly whistling police officer supporting the traffic light at the intersection and trying to regulate the traffic. Crazy world. ♡
