For me, it was clear that if I'm on Pennepoles, a visit to Olympia is a must, where the history of the Games began over 2800 years ago.
Visiting the archaeological site there was a mixture of awe and overwhelm. Overwhelm... What do I do with all these stones lying around and their history, which seems very difficult for me to understand (plus, I can no longer recognize 90% of what used to be here)... And... awe... Wow, I'm standing here where the Olympic Flame is ignited every two years in front of the Temple of Hera.
I'm not sure if it's still the case today, as I read that since the year 2000 (the Sydney Olympic Games), a location near the venue is chosen for each ignition.
In the late afternoon, I find a campsite and Kiran and I are rewarded with a breathtaking sunset. Soooooo beautiful!
