On Sunday we visited Kiel. We wanted to get information about the highlights of Kiel at the hotel. The lady at the reception looked at us with surprise and said, 'You really want to see Kiel? Well, Kiel is ugly and doesn't have much to offer!' She gave us a small city map and said we should just follow the blue line, then we would discover some sights, but there wouldn't be much! Normally, I only hear such statements about Krefeld!
We set off with an umbrella in hand and always stayed on the blue line (well, occasionally we also turned left and right). I wouldn't completely agree with the lady at the hotel. Kiel has some beautiful houses in the city center, we ate at the nice 'old man' at the harbor, and the buildings at the Rathausplatz are quite impressive. There were also some parks/botanical garden with some great statues here and there... but that's about it. Unfortunately, a lot was also destroyed during World War II :-( So, you don't really have to see Kiel.
Well, on Monday we set off to Denmark!
