Hey guys,
as they say, all good things must come to an end, including our tiny little world trip. 😭
After being able to travel five incredibly beautiful countries of the world for almost three months, thanks to Corona, we now have to quarantine for two weeks in our own vacation home, which our parents rented for us. Unfortunately, due to the not-so-nice circumstances at the moment, we had to end our trip two weeks earlier and return to Germany as soon as possible.
As probably everyone knows, California is a risk area regarding the virus, and since our last two weeks of the trip would have been a road trip through California, we decided to cancel it and postpone it to a later and better time. It wouldn't have made sense to stay there anymore, we probably would have unnecessarily caught the virus, and everything is closed anyway, so we wouldn't have been able to see anything.
After that, we got in touch with our travel organizer, Angelina, and booked a return flight from San Francisco to Germany as soon as possible. After two fully booked - and one canceled flight, we finally got one. For all of you who have been asking me in the meantime how things are going for us and I always said 'I don't know', we actually knew all along how things are going for us, we just didn't want to give 'false hope' before something went wrong. Our return flight has been confirmed for about a week now. However, we still wanted to enjoy our time in Hawaii and see the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. 😊
When we were woken up by the alarm clock yesterday morning, we had a strange feeling in our stomachs. We didn't quite want to understand that the 'time of our lives' is simply over now. 😔 After breakfast, we packed our last things, checked out, and it became more and more real that we were now flying back home. At the airport, we looked back on our incredible, mind-blowing three months and tried to realize what had happened.
Now we are on flight LH9053 from San Francisco to Frankfurt and we are passing the ten-hour flight time by playing games, sleeping, eating, and watching movies.
When you read this, we have landed in Frankfurt on Saturday, March 28th, 2020, at around 9:00 am and now have to wait for our connecting flight to Hamburg for almost twelve hours. 🙄
Our flight to Hamburg departs at 9:30 pm and we will arrive in Hamburg at around 10:30 pm. After that, it's not a 'huge joy' for us, friends, and family. Instead, Mareike and I will get into the car, which our parents will bring to Hamburg, and drive together to the vacation home and spend a two-week quarantine there. 🙄
I would like to thank all the people who have been faithfully following my blog. I hope I was able to entertain you a little and give you the feeling that you were there with us! ❣
Yours, Jojo! 💫
