On my way further south, I pass by Peniscola, the winter quarters of Peter and Kristina Emser, my former neighbors from childhood. For many years, the two of them have been spending their winters there at the campsite. How fortunate that we have Facebook and I inquire whether they are currently there.
In fact, they have been in Spain for a week and are very excited that I contacted them. I am warmly invited to stop by. Peter even organizes a parking space for me and a heater so that I can keep warm in my bus.
These are days filled with beauty, relaxation, and sometimes also challenging moments. The two of them show me beautiful places. On Saturday, we drive to the beautiful mountain village of Bel and discover wild-growing carob trees. On another day, I explore the old town on my own and we meet up for a fish lunch with whiskey as a dessert and before I continue my journey, we enjoy a multi-course meal in their favorite wellness hotel on the mountain.
In addition to the activities, it was also nice to spend the night at a campsite after all the wild camping, the first time ever for me. I was by far the youngest and had the smallest vehicle. ;)
