La daabacay: 20.02.2024
2/19/2024 Honolulu
We started our eight-hour tour early.
We drove past Iolani Palace.
First stop was the "Diamond Head Lookout", a viewpoint from which you could overlook part of the island and the beach. There is a memorial plaque commemorating the famous aviator Amelia Earhart.
Next we went to the “Halona Blowhole”. This is a rock formation on the coast from which a geyser-like jet of water emerges when a wave of the right strength hits.
We had the opportunity to buy souvenirs in the “Hawaii Treasure Store”.
We continued through a cemetery with grave fields for several religions to the “Byodo-In Temple”. The Japanese temple features a large Buddha statue and a pond full of koi.
Lunch was shrimp with rice at Tanaka's Shrimp Shop. Next door I was lured by a human skeleton with a macabre poem hanging next to it.
You could get fruit for dessert at Virgil's Fruit Stand.
Finally, we visited the Dole Plantation and tried pineapple ice cream there.
Then we went back to the port.
I still wanted to take a stroll through the city and buy a few things.
In the evening we were entertained by a Hawaiian folklore performance.
