Hello everyone,
Today we woke up at 8 o'clock and experienced something completely new: it was raining, and quite heavily!
Usually, it rains here briefly (for about five minutes), but very heavily, and then it's over. But today, it seemed to rain continuously...
Anyway, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast on our terrace, packed everything up, and continued towards "Holbox"!
But first, we had to return the scooter. When we started driving, it was still raining heavily, but luckily, it stopped about halfway there.
After that, we took the ferry to the mainland and our car. Oh, how we were looking forward to the car! All our luggage in the trunk, sitting comfortably without the backpack almost breaking our backs, and pleasant temperatures - whether with heating or the window down...
After a two-hour drive, we arrived at our destination port and parked the car again. For a change, we were very lucky, and the ferry left just 15 minutes after our arrival.
We decided to sit outside during the crossing since there were fewer people there. It was pretty chilly, but the crossing only lasted 25 minutes.
The first thing we noticed on Holbox was that all the streets were flooded with water. Some of the streets were about 20-30 centimeters below water level, and the vehicles seemed to be sinking ☺️.
We walked to our accommodation and watched the scene on the streets with amusement. We immediately liked this island!
After unpacking everything and sitting down for a short while, hunger struck. But first, we had to go to an ATM - we didn't have a single peso left in our pockets!
There's only one ATM here, and if you want to use it, you have to stand in a long line. After standing for a little over 20 minutes, we were soon next in line. Then, someone stood in front of the ATM and said "oh oh," and the whole line responded, "noooooooo!" Everyone thought that the ATM was out of money, and there was a slight panic among everyone. Shortly after, it started working again luckily - it must have glitched for a moment... Just as everyone had calmed down, the bank alarm went off briefly. We were all so startled! It's really adventurous to withdraw money here ☺️
But everything worked out, and we rushed to the nearest restaurant. Since it was a kind of pizza delivery place, I had a pizza and Kevin had a calzone. Somehow, we didn't trust the place so much, but after we placed the order, it was too late to turn back. So far, everything seems to be fine, we must have just been mistaken ☺️
On the way back, we bought some drinks and a bottle of wine because we don't want any big fuss today.
I took care of the missing photos for you, and Kevin took care of some things for our business during that time.
But now, we're calling it a day and enjoying a glass of wine on our terrace ☺️
See you again tomorrow!
