Thousands of lanterns in Hoi An

La daabacay: 27.05.2018

I took the bus from Dalat to Nha Trang on the coast, from where I took the night train to Da Nang and then the bus to the small town of Hoi An. On the bus, I met an Australian. Since my train was not leaving until eleven in the evening, he offered to store my luggage in his hostel in Nha Trang. I wanted to go to the beach afterwards. But since the hostel had free beer all evening, I stayed there. So I arrived at the train station around eleven o'clock, all cleaned up. ;-)

The train was almost three hours delayed, so I sat in the waiting room until the early morning hours. The journey itself was not so great: my stomach started acting up again, the compartment was hot and stuffy, and judging by the smell, quite a few people had already slept in the bed linen.

My hostel was quiet and a bit off the city, where I rested and recovered a bit.

Hoi An is beautiful with its amazing old town and the thousands of lanterns. But it's no longer a secret, and so endless streams of tourists crowd the narrow streets of the city every day.

Since the temperatures during the day always reached around 40 degrees Celsius, I mostly spent this time at the hostel pool or the beach and then in the late afternoon, drove into the city with a few others from the hostel on a scooter.

Even though it's quite touristy, Hoi An was one of the most beautiful places I visited during my trip!
