La daabacay: 24.09.2019
In the morning I woke up second, but had to have breakfast alone because everyone has a different habit when it comes to breakfast and also has to leave the house at different times. I brought lunch from home and ate it at school with the other students. It provided good opportunities to learn and apply English. Dinner is usually eaten together with the host family.
There are 25 of us in school who started today. The duration of school varies from 3 weeks to 1 year. I am the oldest and there are 3 Swiss people, but only English is allowed in school. That's a good thing because we are here to learn this language.
There were a lot of information and an entrance test, written and oral, to determine at which level one stands. We were not allowed to use a dictionary or Google for help. You are all alone, just like in all exams in life. I was able to answer all the questions, the next question is simply: what was really correct from what I wrote. I will see that tomorrow and at which level I will be placed.
Many people claim that they feel abandoned by God in difficult times and that he has turned away from them. However, I have never experienced, not even this time, that the teacher helped me in exams, written, oral or difficult times in life. That's how it is in life too. God equips us for the exams, but when it comes down to it, he is there to carry us, but we have to go through the exam ourselves, as we were prepared for it in advance if we did not neglect to learn it.
There are various activities every afternoon to pass the time outside of school and to allow the opportunity to apply what has been learned. However, not all activities appeal to me in the same way. So I will pick out some that I will undertake. On the other days, I will explore the area and also go to the library.
In the afternoon, I explored the city a bit.
Highway 1 starts in Victoria and runs through all of Canada. Today I was at the starting point or endpoint, depending on which side you start from.
Also nearby is almost the southernmost part of the country. Since it is only almost the southernmost part, it is not so prominently highlighted.
There are diverse wildlife not only in parks, but also squirrels buzzing around our house. I haven't seen any eagles yet, but there should be some nearby. I signed up for election observation today.
Curious how the first real school day will go tomorrow.
