Today, getting up early was called for. I wanted to go back to the mainland from the island, of course hoping that it wouldn't be raining there - and it wasn't! 😊 Koh Chang - Bangkok ➡️ Minivan, ferry, minivan - total travel time 7 hrs. The minivan driver was driving as if someone was following us. However, I couldn't see anyone. 😄 While trying to sleep, the best solution when sitting among five Chinese people who take turns burping, farting, or sniffing loudly, I was hit against the window quite hard by the occasional pothole. Now I also know what the girl at the hostel meant when she said: Minivan sometimes a bit dangerous... But anyway, we were two hours faster than on the way there. 😂
Arriving in Bangkok, I decided to go to the highly acclaimed MBK shopping mall. 'You absolutely have to see it.' No, you really don't!! But at least it kept me busy until dinner time in Chinatown. Chinatown itself only becomes interesting in the dark, when the traders set up their stands, it smells of delicious food everywhere, and all the lights go on. Today, I treated myself and had fried prawns with garlic. On the plate, it looked like a huge portion, so I doubted whether I could finish it all. But as it goes with prawns, once you've peeled them, there's not much left. So I decided to finish my visit to Chinatown by trying some gyoza (filled dumplings). They were fantastic.. With a full and gurgling stomach, because you have to wash down the food somehow, and what better way to do that than with a beer, I eventually escaped the spectacle and am now lying in my bed at the hostel. Yes, it's only 11 o'clock, but I have to take the train to the airport at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Next stop: Chiang Mai! Good night! 💤
