Brisbane and whale watching 🐳

La daabacay: 01.07.2019

Next, as mentioned earlier, we continued to Brisbane earlier than expected. But since there isn't much to report from there, I'll keep this part shorter and summarize everything. After we arrived, we made our way to the city. I had been here in February and could show a lot. However, Elsa and Marcel also had to admit after the 2 days that while the city has its charms, it doesn't offer much else. It's just like any other Australian city. Of course, never to be compared to Melbourne! Because that is the best and most beautiful of all!

On the second day, despite the not-so-great weather, we drove to Mount Coot-Tha and from there to the Botanical Gardens. The view was pretty cool, but with blue skies, the outlook would have been better for sure 🤷🏼‍♀️. Well, you can't have it all... Nevertheless, it was very nice to have visited Brisbane again ❤️

But now, on to the next stop along the East Coast that we targeted. Surfers Paradise! 😍 I have to say that in February, as expected, it was much warmer, but the Gold Coast still has its attractions in winter. In June, the whale season 🐳 starts and so we set off on June 30th to see a few.

And can you see them? Yes, folks, you need good eyes and a lot of patience... While trying to spot a whale, you also have to concentrate on not dropping your phone and not getting sick from the boat's intense movements, all while keeping an eye on the whales. Not so easy, ignoring all these external influences and focusing on the whales. That's why I don't have the best pictures of them, because I preferred to focus on them rather than on holding my phone in the right direction at the right time. Otherwise, you end up missing the moment, staring at the screen!

And a few dolphins stopped by as well :)

After we were back on solid ground, we sat on the beach and enjoyed the weather until our bus, which will take us to the next destination, arrived. Because yes, after a few rainy days, there are always a few warm sunny days that you can hardly believe are actually winter.

In the late afternoon, we boarded the bus again and made our way to the next destination :)

To be continued... Xo
