Today we had another excursion. Carmen from the BnB booked us a private taxi and after a great pancake and fruit breakfast, we set off with Louis, who also lives in the BnB.
In the boat, the driver, a Jamaican, and 2 Chicas were waiting for us, who we thought had also booked a tour. Then we picked up a friend of the driver and made some typical island errands along the way (water taxi drivers not only take passengers but also all kinds of odds and ends that they deliver elsewhere) and zoomed off. By now it was clear that the two Chicas were with the guys and all 4 of them were going to have a nice day on the island. What a life as a water taxi driver, isn't it?
We passed by a sloth island (saw 2 again 😍) and arrived at Zapatilla Island. Just a few hectares of forest, dream beach, and shallow water. Exceptionally amazing weather, truly Caribbean.
First, we did some snorkeling, but there wasn't much to see. Then we discovered a tree trunk sticking out of the water and we did a 'Who can get over it first' challenge. The trunk was of course wet and slippery, everyone fell into the water 100 times, but we did it 😎
There was also a 'Who can climb the palm tree' challenge, but not for me.
On the way back, we made a short stop at a typical Caribbean restaurant above the water, beautiful to look at.
The rest of the way was at high speed, so we passed the other tourist boats that had already returned before us...
Back at the BnB, we made ourselves comfortable and played a card game without a name that Louis taught us. We'll probably import it!
For dinner, the host caught fish himself and prepared other delicacies. Everyone sits at a giant table and chats, sometimes all at once. It's somehow different here, but very awesome 🤗
