La daabacay: 24.09.2023
We continued right after sunrise, just before nine o'clock. First stop the Chateau de Monbazillac. Walk through the village and to the castle, everyone was still asleep. Then just continue to Bergerac for the Saturday market. What a beautiful medieval town, we hardly made any progress because there was so much to see.
At some point we reached the market around the Notre-Dame de Bergerac church. Fruits, vegetables, cheese, sausage, handicrafts, bread, ... a huge selection. We stocked up on some goodies and continued to explore the town. The numerous shops that advertised foie gras also allowed us to buy a few small jars of various local specialties. Let's see!
Our journey continued and we had received a lot of tips for the region the evening before. On the way to the parking space we had actually chosen for the next few days, we passed a pretty little town and there was also an entrance to a campsite.
We were greeted at reception by an extremely friendly woman who told us that she had a place for us, but only for one more night, after which the season would close. Despite our strong intention to stop for a few days, we decided to stay one night.
A great view of Beynac Castle from the parking space, great! After an aperitif we went for a walk, into the village and up to the castle. Once at the top we had a great view of all the surrounding castles and the Dordogne winding through the valley. As if that wasn't enough, hot air balloons also rose, almost cheesy...! ;-)
