Since Eduardo's flight was at half past four local time, we had to go to the airport relatively early to return our rental car. Before that, we had breakfast at Jungle Buffet. All-You-Can-Eat for 4€ per person. You could even have omelettes and fried eggs made for you 😍
Afterwards, our hosts showed us the best brownie in the world - naturally gluten-free 😱
With snacks in our luggage, we made our way to the airport and of course, we got ripped off by the rental car company. Not directly me, but Eduardo, but I'm still very pissed off. If you need a rental car in Cancun, don't go to Dollar or Thrifty! We had to pay a 5000 peso deposit, but only 3000 were entered into the system, so the whole thing cost 100€ more. It's really outrageous! 🤮
At the Cancun Airport, I had to withdraw money again because I was missing half a peso for wine. At least I had enough money to get something to eat before the flight, since I couldn't smoke there. At Sushi-Tequila (what were the owners thinking when they came up with the name? Hey, let's make sushi at the airport, but to let the gringos know that we're in Mexico, let's add something Mexican to it. - Sushi-Tequila sounds authentic!) they even had "cheaper" wine (7€ per glass). 🍻
The flight itself was relatively calm, but I couldn't recline my seat because the knees of the person behind me blocked it. Makes you wonder if these people are flying for the first time in their life. It can't be pleasant to sit squeezed like that for 10 hours. I mean, I thought it was pretty shitty and couldn't sleep. Why didn't the guy just pay a few more euros, spared me the torture and secured a little more legroom for himself? I can already tell that I'm getting German again. 😂
Now I'm sitting here in Frankfurt and have to wait a total of four and a half hours for my connecting flight. I have no idea why I even have to fly this route. I would have preferred to take the train, then I would already be there 🤷🏿♂️
