Port Douglas - Daintree River - Granit Gorge Nature Park

La daabacay: 11.08.2019

A perfect last day in Australia ๐Ÿ˜. Fabienne (from the group) is still visiting a friend near Cairns with her husband.

This morning, they picked me up from the hotel at 8:00 am for a day trip by car.

First, we went to Port Douglas and strolled through the Sunday market.

Then they asked what we wanted to do next, and we all answered in unison, "we want to see crocodiles".

Alright, the next spot (Daintree River) is 45 minutes away, and the two of them were lucky enough to see a crocodile. A perfect last day, we saw 3 adult crocodiles and a baby crocodile ๐Ÿ˜.

Then we took a detour to Granit Gorge Nature Park. On the way, we were greeted by kookaburras, the most famous bird in Australia.

In the park, wallabies were waiting for us, and we were able to feed them ๐Ÿ˜, so cute. We walked a trail for half an hour, which was partly not easy. I had wondered before why we were given an emergency number and had to sign a list stating that we were in the park (good thing I was wearing sneakers). It went over rocks and stones.

Afterwards, we had a delicious Thai restaurant, and Don (from the group) popped by to say goodbye.

I also said goodbye to Fabienne, I'm now the last one from the group leaving Cairns tomorrow evening ๐Ÿ˜ญ. (Okay, I'm also a bit excited to go home).

It was a fantastic trip with many great impressions and a wonderful group. And the best part: "I didn't see any creepy spiders" ๐Ÿ˜‚. Just two that resemble our house spiders.

I still have some time tomorrow before heading back to relax a bit in Cairns and enjoy a delicious steak...
