After Arthur's Pass, we continue to the local mountain of Christchurch, Mt. Hutt. Located on the famous 'Inland Scenic Route 72', this ski resort attracts a large number of tourists. Like almost every ski resort in New Zealand, you first have to conquer a long gravel road to reach the snow and slopes. Unfortunately, the wind blows like crazy at the parking lot and most of the lifts are 'on hold', as is often the case in New Zealand. But just as quickly as the strong winds from the southwest appear, they also disappear and the weather changes for the better, so that everything can open. The slopes and slopes at Mt. Hutt are very good and fun, just like the FunPark. In terms of lift facilities, Mt. Hutt is definitely one of the most modern in New Zealand. From the highest point, you have a good view over the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch and the sea. After a long and fun day of skiing, it's time to return to Christchurch, which is about half an hour away.
