A bit of history and culture from Newcastle

Hello everyone and a happy first Advent!

I'm not in the Christmas spirit at all yet, which is probably due to the warm temperatures. However, we've already baked the first butter cookies and Chevy has already tried on the first Christmas outfit.

Weeks go by relatively quickly. During the week, I'm now at the factory for half a day on 3 days and then I take over the kids when I come home. This brings some variety and relief to the otherwise very intense contact with the boys. Last week, I also took a day off during the week and first went to the beach with another German au pair and then to the Memorial Walk, a path above the coast with great views of the beaches and the city. It was built last year on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign. On April 24, 1915, the soldiers recruited from Australia and New Zealand for the British army reached the coast of Gallipoli. Many of the soldiers died in the battles on the Turkish peninsula.

Last weekend, I was then on my host mother's farm from Sunday to Monday. This is about 2 hours drive from Newcastle and is located in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. No house nearby, just bush and a river nearby. Beautiful and idyllic! Even though it was only one night, it was quite relaxing.

We took the horses across the river because their hooves were being filed. That was really fun. On the way back, we also saw a brown snake!

On Friday evening, we went to an ABBA cover concert. It was very amusing, we danced and laughed a lot. Unfortunately, I don't have the pictures yet, I'll add them later :)

This Saturday I worked and today, after jogging, I went to the museum in Newcastle with another au pair. There is currently an exhibition about the fashion development of the 1950s. The basic exhibition reminded us once again that Australian history only begins in the 19th century. Dinner is coming up now.
