Abel Tasman 🦭

La daabacay: 19.12.2023

Abel Tasman, the smallest national park in New Zealand but also one of the most beautiful. Golden sandy beach, turquoise sea and endless hiking trails. Originally I never planned to do it (like everything else) but because so many people recommended it, I went anyway. I don't regret it for a second, on the contrary I'm just grateful and overjoyed to have landed there! Spontaneously planned 3 days then turned into 6 days. The first hike was scheduled for the first day because I was there at 8 in the morning. After a good 3 hour hike, past countless beaches and viewpoints, we arrived at a deserted beach. The afternoon was enjoyed on the beach, but unfortunately without lunch, as the Weka birds enjoyed it while we were ignorant in the sea. Back at the hostel, the evening was spent around a campfire. Like every evening that followed :) In the following days we tried out the water taxi and went on a kayak tour and saw a lot of seals. The seals even swam around our kayak, jumped in the water and slept with their babies on the rock. We were also able to observe lots of different birds from the water! Of course there was also a lot of hiking. So I never got bored there. Thursday evenings are always karaoke night with a real band in the only restaurant in the village. For those rainy days like my last one, the hostel also has its own cinema. But the Abel Tasman also has more than enough to offer for a day at the beach. The Abel Tasman made me fall in love with New Zealand a little more than I have since day one here. But time there just runs a little differently and calmly. Apart from hiking and beaches there isn't much going on there. There isn't even a shop (almost reminded me a bit of home in Fellbach). I can't wait to see more of New Zealand and all the landscapes it has to offer. Now let’s get back to surfing! 🦭
