15 nach Conil de la Frontera

La daabacay: 01.04.2024

Distance 108 kilometers, cumulative 1,147 kilometers | Elevation 1,020, cumulative 8,540

FINALLY, the rain has stopped and the sky is partly blue. A real cheer!! That also increases my motivation to do a longer tour towards Cadiz. Cadiz is too far away for me, though, so I plan a tour to Canil de la Frontera. According to Komoot, it's just under 100 kilometers. In the end, it's 108 and over a kilometer in elevation.

Despite the dryness in the air, the puddles are still there and a shower cannot be ruled out. At kilometer 10 I see a rainbow and shortly afterwards it rains heavily. Luckily only for about a minute and that was it for the whole day.

I make good progress despite the inclines. Mostly on hard-packed gravel paths. Cycling through this nature park seems to be popular with cyclists, I often come across individuals or groups. The park itself reminds me a lot of areas around here, there isn't a single palm tree to be seen anymore, just cows, sheep and goats. Then I cycle through a huge wind farm, there are hundreds of these large wind turbines that generate electricity.

Suddenly, just 20 meters away, I see a bearded cyclist who reminds me a lot of Alex. He puts his bike on the ground and comes across the meadow to me. But he doesn't speak Swiss German, but he speaks perfect English. He is from Greece, his name is Matthias, and he has been on the road for 2 months. That was also a short but very nice encounter. I am sure that more will follow.

The main road that I had to drive on for a few kilometers was no problem today. It was only two lanes and had a hard shoulder that I felt comfortable on.

Then there were many kilometers that I could easily cover on bike paths next to the road. Once I was sure that I could reach Canil, I booked the planned accommodation, which seemed cheap and just right for me.

Canil de la Fontera is located on a hill and all the houses are white. This gives the town a very special appearance. In summer, this place is literally overrun by tourists. At the moment it is peaceful and I am enjoying the warm evening, reviewing the day with a beer and writing this blog entry.

FINALLY, the rain has stopped and the sky is partially blue. A crazy stand-up!! This also increases my motivation to take a longer journey to Cadiz. But Cadiz is a remote place for me, so I'm planning an excursion to Canil de la Frontera. According to Komoot, about 100 kilometers. In total it will be 108 meters and more than a kilometer in altitude.

By the weight of the air flow, the charcoal comes over and a hole can be removed. At kilometer 10 you see an arch and a little later it rains a lot. For luck only lasted about a minute and it was all day.

I'm progressing well with the weight of the subidas. Mainly on very compacted grave roads. Riding through this natural park seems to be popular among cyclists; I'm leaving individuals or groups behind. The park there remembers me a lot in this area, there isn't a single palm tree but there are horses, sheep and cows. Next comes a huge wind farm, there are scientists from these large wind turbines that generate electricity.

I suddenly felt like riding just 20 meters away from a barbed cyclist who reminded me a lot of Alex. I left my bike on the ground and crossed the field. But I don't speak Swiss German, but I speak perfect English. If you call Matthias, he is from Greece and will take you two months traveling. It was also a short but very nice meeting. I'm sure there will be more to come.

The main road, which I would have to use for several kilometers, was not a problem today. Just pulled over two cars and pulled over an emergency car in which I felt comfortable.

Quite a few kilometers that can be easily covered by bike along the side of the road. Once I was sure I could get to Canil, I reserved the accommodation I had planned, which I found cheap and perfect for me.

The Fontera kennel is located on a pendulum and all the houses are white. This is a very special place picture. In summer this place is literally invaded by tourists. At this moment I am calm and enjoying the hot evening, reflecting on the day with a beer and writing this post on the blog.
