San Marcos is a small hippie village and the hostel can also be seen as a small commune, but the atmosphere here is very pleasant and there are many dogs, although they are mostly street dogs that now live here. I haven't done much in the past four days as I still feel too tired for hikes, but my friend Mary from Ireland explored the town and we took a boat to the nearby city of San Juan, which seems very loud and crowded compared to here. However, this place invites you to linger, which is why I'm returning to Antigua today to start at a Spanish school on Monday.
During my stay, I will be staying with a host family, which currently worries me a bit because there will probably be some communication problems at first, but hopefully they will be resolved quickly. I have booked for one week, but I hope to attend the school for a total of 3 weeks. However, I still have to clarify this because of the holidays.
