Tag 15: Quobba Station - Tom Price

La daabacay: 01.10.2018

Our day today starts very sad. We haven't had any cell phone or internet reception for some time, but somehow the SMS went through last night. Our aunt - Michi's 95-year-old grandma Hermi - passed away on September 23rd. Sadness and grief dominate our emotions. We never thought that our visit on Sunday before our departure would be our last reunion in this life.

Today, we tackle the probably longest day of our journey. Our destination for the day is Tom Price near Karijini National Park. Since there is not much along the way except for 2 petrol stations/roadhouses, we want to cover the kilometers as quickly as possible. Maybe not a bad program for digesting the shock.

We start at 7:45 a.m. at Quobba Station and arrive at Tom Price Tourist Park at exactly 6 p.m. We make stops at both roadhouses to refuel and strengthen ourselves with ice cream or burger/fish & chips. The children are very well-behaved throughout the day. For the first time today, we are using the tablets as entertainment during the drive - it distracts and passes the time.

The drive on the Nanutarra-Wittenoom Road (access to Tom Price, after turning off the highway) is very beautiful and we liked it very much. The further north we have come, the higher the temperatures have risen. Now it's really warm! We take the opportunity to take another dip in the refreshing pool.

Since we are all completely exhausted, we are having fast food today - a cold snack - and then it's off to bed.
