Finally arrived in Nashville. Arrived in the city that competes with Memphis for the American BBQ crown.
Today, Jacks Bar-B-Que was on my list. Founded in 1989 by John Cawthorn, there are now 3 restaurants. No reservations: 'First come, first serve', that's the motto here.
We decided to visit the first restaurant founded on Broadway. We were greeted by a long line of hungry people. After about 20 minutes, we were finally able to place our order. Steffi had the Smoked Boston Turkey with Green Beens, Mac and Cheese, and Cornbread, I opted for a combo of St Louis Style Ribs, Texel Beef Brisket, and Smoked Chicken, accompanied by Coleslaw, Baked Beans, and Cornbread. It's comparable to a fast-food restaurant, where you can fill BBQ sauces into small bowls and take them to your table after receiving the meal. Regarding drinks, it's all about refill.
We had our food in no time and found a free table.
Steffi was very satisfied with her choice. I also had the best meat since the beginning of our trip on my plate. A wonderful smokering and juicy meat. Only my side dishes couldn't match the taste of the meat. By the way, they smoke it with intense hickory wood here.
Conclusion: Unfortunately, not as chill ambiance as in Chicago, but you can definitely see the importance of BBQ in Nashville. Rightly so!
