The end

La daabacay: 30.03.2024

My days on the island were adventurous weather-wise. On the first day the clouds were quite low, on the second day it was windy/cloudy and on the third day it was so windy that the sand felt like sideways hail, within minutes I was covered all over with fine sand and it was a It was just a battle of wills to lie on the beach. The whole fine sandy beach was of course super beautiful, but I liked the stormier east coast of the island best because the waves hit the reef with all their might and the spray blew into your face.

The last few days have been good. I tried to reflect on the trip a little and just as I was watching the sunset in a park with my only ice cream of the tour, a feeling of gratitude arose again. I know that none of this would be possible without a lot of fortunate circumstances. Starting with the people who support me and build me up, who lovingly look after my home while I'm away, that wouldn't be possible. And to always remember what a 'strong' passport makes possible. Yes, I worked hard to make this possible, but in capitalism that doesn't mean that it's enough to make something like this possible.

I questioned many things again, related to tourism and social inequality, responsibility and things like that. I don't have answers to a lot of things. But 70% of tourism as it currently takes place is not right. The seas are empty, the forests are empty. If you look closely, many places are actually graves. From a social perspective, it almost looks wilder. But you have to find out for yourself how to deal with it and what the consequences are. Or maybe we are developing in the right direction socially.

A bit deep towards the end. Tomorrow after breakfast I'll head to the airport and then another night flight and four trains and then I'll be back home. Where my little furry animal is waiting for me and I can hardly wait.

See ya
