Burlington, VT (4)

La daabacay: 12.02.2019

I spent my last day in Burlington visiting two breweries.

Vermont Pub Brewery (est 1988)

Oldest microbrewery in Vermont and the 'origin of all craft beers in Vermont'. The founder of The Alchemist started here and learned from Greg Noonan.

Silk Ale (Winter Pale Ale) 4.8%

A very classic English ale. It has a slightly oxidized taste, which makes it even more classic ;) You can hardly find the hop varieties Cascade and Citra in it.

Dogbite Bitter 5.4%

A very well-balanced English bitter with traditional English hop varieties East Kent Goldings and Fuggles.

Dogbite Bitter from the Cask 5.4%

It has less to no CO2, a fuller body, tastes oxidized, and slightly fruity.

Bombay Grab IPA 5.5%

Based on an original recipe by the famous American author of brewery literature and former brewery owner and brewmaster Greg Noonan (+2009). A very classic IPA, clear, golden, not too fruity, 'English', they taste like 40BE but with a lingering bitterness; you can taste Magnum, Simcoe, and Cascade hops slightly.

Handsome Mick’s Irish Stout 4.4%

A very authentic Irish stout. Full flavor, rounded roastiness, and creaminess from nitrogen and raw barley(?) draught.

Switchback Brewing Co

They advertise that their beer is naturally carbonized 😂

Switchback Ale 5.0%

A well-balanced, fruity-malty ale with good drinkability!

Citra-Pils Keller Bier 5.2%

A dry-hopped Pilsner, intense citrus taste that overshadows pleasant Lager notes, otherwise ok.

Switchback IPA 5.9%

Intensely citrusy and resinous aroma from the hop varieties Centennial, Amarillo, Cascade, Chinook, and Simcoe.

Blackstrap Ale (smoky Amber Ale) 5.9%

A very smoky ale, good combination of body and smoky flavor, in my opinion, too much smoke.
