19/08/2022 - Stage 13 from Kavala, Greece to Istanbul, Turkey (449 kilometers)

Our next stage crosses a border and will take us some time to reach the destination. So we had to get up early. We drove out of Kavala, along the sea for an hour, and then visited the Agios Nikolaos Monastery. It is located on small islands and is connected to the mainland by two long wooden bridges. A little idyll in white and blue to say goodbye to our stay in Greece. We continued to the Turkish border. It took us almost 2 hours to get through immigration. The car was once again the problem. We had checked beforehand whether we needed a green insurance card for Turkey, and everywhere it said no. However, the border officer saw it differently. Today we couldn't just turn around, because our destination with 4 overnight stays was in Turkey. Luckily, today was Friday and the insurance company was still able to send us all the necessary documents and we were able to enter the country. We drove through the country for quite a long time until we arrived at our final destination - Istanbul. We rented an apartment that is very close to the main sights. Tonight we just had a typical Turkish dinner and then went to sleep.
