07/12/2019 - New York & The Christmas Tree Part II

La daabacay: 27.12.2019

After visiting 27 US states in 65 days with 7 different cars and covering a distance of 20,945 kilometers, we returned our rental car today. From now on, we will be relying on buses and trains to get around in New York. We wanted to take this opportunity to finally visit the famous Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. But before that, we decided to explore the Santaland at the largest Macy's store and submit our wish list to Santa Claus. On the 8th floor of the department store, we discovered that we needed a reservation to sit on Santa's lap. Unfortunately, we didn't have one. So it remains to be seen if we will receive any Christmas gifts this year...! We decided to make use of the daylight and took a stroll through the High Line Park. This park is located on a former freight train track and stretches for 2.33 kilometers. Here, you can admire the old rails and various artworks. We then continued to Rockefeller Center to finally see the tree. However, it wasn't the best idea as it was packed with people on a Saturday evening during the holiday season. Nonetheless, we managed to catch a glimpse of the brightly lit tree and even took a photo of ourselves. But to be honest, there are much more beautiful and larger Christmas trees out there. We briefly watched the ice skaters at the ice rink by the Christmas tree and made our way back home by bus. On the short walk from the bus stop to our "home", we admired the first crazy Christmas decorations in our neighborhood.
