Koh Lanta / Day 43-47

La daabacay: 11.10.2019

Hey everyone, a few days have passed since my last entry. After my day off on Monday, I was assigned to the cats for the rest of the week and I will probably stay with them until I leave. Now more than half of the project is done and almost half of my trip. How time flies. Nevertheless, I am already looking forward to being back home. During a stay abroad like this, you realize once again what you have at home.

A few days ago, one of my colleagues unfortunately got bitten by one of the dogs. The dog that bit her is named Tomato and is unfortunately one of the most difficult dogs here. Tomato was severely abused by its previous owner. She was stabbed with a knife in the flank and face. She was also dragged behind a moving scooter by a leash. As a result, she has a particular distrust of people (especially men) and certain aggressions towards other dogs. But once she has built trust with you, she is one of the sweetest dogs. The bite on my colleague was more of an accident. It just so happened that another dog was coming back when the two wanted to leave, and she unfortunately ended up in the middle when Tomato wanted to attack the other dog. Fortunately, the injury is not serious, but she had to go to the hospital briefly for bandaging, etc., and is now taking antibiotics to prevent infection.

The cool thing about this project is that you can not only bring a dog with you for the night shift to sleep, but you can also bring a cat or a dog to your room for any other night. Last night, I chose my favorite cat Jellyfish. I think she is one of the most beautiful cats here, she has long gray-tiger fur, is very soft, and super affectionate. Unfortunately, Jellyfish was so excited that she constantly stuck to me, purred, and walked all over me. So I couldn't really sleep and had to bring her back. Jellyfish has already been adopted and will leave us next Friday.

This morning, I attended a yoga class nearby at Oasis Yoga. It was the first yoga class since I started my journey and it felt so good to finally do yoga again and take an extra 1.5 hours for it. I usually practice Ashtanga Yoga, but here I participated in a Yin Yoga class, which is completely different but still really good. The yoga teacher was also amazing, definitely recommended. I will definitely try to go there more often next week.

On Monday, I have my day off again and I booked a hotel. This time, however, I will just lie by the pool all day and relax.

Until then.

Your Alex
