La daabacay: 17.02.2017
After a short night (breakfast started again at 06:15 am), our journey continued. We crossed the border from Botswana to Zimbabwe and then drove to Victoria Falls, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. After a short drive, we got off the truck and immediately met some support from Switzerland. Hendrik (a school friend of Nathalie) was waiting for us. He has been traveling in Zimbabwe for a month and has added a weekend trip to Victoria Falls to his program just for us. We went to the waterfalls and expected some drizzle due to the stirred up water from the falls. Currently, the water level is relatively high due to the rainy season, making the waterfalls extremely impressive. However, we did not expect torrential rain at the falls. So within 2 minutes, despite having raincoats, we were completely soaked. After 1.5 hours at the falls, we returned to our truck. As soon as we were a few meters away from the falls, the sun was shining. We then visited the 'Big Tree' and walked around the shops and market stalls in the city. In the evening, as a group, we went for a farewell dinner together. After that, we were able to enjoy a bed for the first time this week and also sleep in a little the next morning. After a balanced breakfast, we flew back to Johannesburg from Victoria Falls Airport.
