It's Buddhatime

Lolomiina: 13.01.2017

The day should start with a tour of the Grand Palace, but since the king's death, strict security rules have been in place and you can't enter without a pass (which we obviously don't have). So the attraction is postponed to tomorrow and first the Wat Pho, temple with the largest reclining Buddha, is visited. The temple is more of a temple complex with different buildings, where you can find more and more Buddhas. Everything is adorned, gilded, and very impressive. After that, we continue to Wat Sekat on the golden mountain. Many steps lead along a shady path (finally a bit of cooling - long pants are mandatory in temples, and we are sweating to death..) to the temple. From the top, you have a perfect view of the Bangkok skyline.

To get to the metro, we take a TukTuk.

On the way back, we order something from the street kitchen next to our apartment without knowing exactly what it is (there is no real English menu there). We get a whole fish in salt crust - it tastes delicious.

After a rest at the pool of our apartment, we set off again. To the Paptong market near Sukumvith. A night market where mainly fake watches, shoes, and bags are offered. But also all other touristic souvenirs. A few streets further starts the famous red-light district of Bangkok, which we wanted to avoid. Nevertheless, men come from all sides trying to sell us a Ping Pong show.

To finish off the day, we try Sticky Rice with Mango and a Mangosteen.
