Summerland in the Okanagan Valley

प्रकाशित: 22.09.2016

Located between Vancouver and the Rocky Mountains, the fertile wine valley of Okanagan Valley is known for its vineyards, orchards, and sandy beaches along Okanagan Lake. We are staying at the B&B Wildhorse Mountain Guest Ranch in Summerland for 3 nights. There are 19 horses, three dogs, and three cats on the farm.

We took the opportunity to go horseback riding. We set off right after breakfast, and it was very nice as it wasn't too hot yet. The horses were very pleasant to ride. I had muscle soreness, specifically in my adductors, for three days afterward.

We also took a short ride on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway. The railway was built between 1910 and 1915, stretching 325 miles to transport the fruits to the global market.

There are numerous fruit and vegetable stands along the roads; you just have to stop and buy something.

The next day was dedicated to wine and the beach. In Naramata, on the other side of the lake, we chose Mocojo Winery. It is located slightly above with a wonderful view of the valley and the lake. We bought a bottle of wine and a cheese platter and enjoyed the atmosphere and the wine.

There are wonderful sandy beaches all around the lake, even some for dogs :)

The pub in Summerland has very good wine, beer, and food. The Local Restaurant, right on the lake, is also recommended.
