'Those are Dörrties!' - my enthusiastic and surprised exclamation at one of the many street stands here that most people probably won't understand, as Dörrties are not yet as well known as they should be. Dörrties are rolls made from extremely dried fruit puree. They are produced and distributed in Austria by a so-called #Junior Company. As a convinced entrepreneur and lover of good food, I am a fan of the idea of Junior Companies and Dörrties. And now I find them here in Georgia again: bigger and in many more flavors. So there is room for improvement: Kriecherln (fruit) make the best Dörrties, I tell you, and pomegranates are not to be despised either. Dark grapes transform into black Dörrties and kiwis into neon green ones. Enough advertising, well, not quite: #Dörrties (Austrian) are also available on the internet.
In Georgia, there are actually no desserts or sweet dishes, except for those dried fruit mats (Tklapi) and something that looks like sausages but turns out to be walnuts or hazelnuts rolled in a solid fruit jelly: Churchkhela comes in a variety of colors and flavors. Sliced thinly, they are very pretty. We have come to appreciate them for a small or large snack in between.
